2026 Season:

July 14th:

San Diego, CA - Waves defeat the Hustle 5-3 in a tight pitching duel.

The Waves scored 2 in the first inning off of a Tyler Wick solo home run and a single by Derrick Kraus. Michael Hollis had a solo shot of his own in the top of the second to make it 3-0. The Waves added 2 more insurance runs in the 4th and 8th innings.

Waves starter Sergio Garcia got the win, allowing just 1 unearned run in 2.1 innings. Peyton Perry was strong out of the bullpen, allowing no runs in 2.2 innings. Louis Cohen earned the 4 inning save.

The Waves will play in Compton tomorrow at 6:05 against the Academy Barons. ​​​​​

July 13th:

Escondido, CA - Waves take down the

Canes 13-5, extending their win streak to

11. 

Waves bats got off to a fast start, scoring 2 

in the 1st inning. They added on with a big 5-run 3rd and 3 more in each the 6th and 7th innings.

Kayden Anderson and Kerim Orucevic both had huge days at the plate, both homering and collecting 3 RBIs.

 

Waves starter Michael Karlin earned the win, throwing 2 innings allowing 0 runs on 1 hit, 0 walks, and 2 Ks. Dylan Berentis had a solid 2 innings out of the bullpen, allowing 0 runs on 2 hits, 0 walks, and 3 Ks. 

 

The Waves will be back in action tomorrow against the Hustle. First pitch at 4 pm at Grossmont High School. 

July 6th:

Escondido, CA - Waves sweep the doubleheader against the West Coast Bulldogs, taking game 1 8-4 and game 2 8-3. 

The Waves got on the board early in game 1 from a couple Bulldogs' errors in the 1st inning. The offense kept adding on throughout the game, led by Brady Luyben going 2/2 with 2 RBIs and Derrick Kraus going 2/3 with 1 RBI.

Waves reliever Michael Karlin got the win, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing no runs on 1 hit, 2 walks, and 2 Ks.

The Waves' bats stayed hot in game 2, scoring 8 runs again and recording 12 hits total. John Uchytil, Mikey Valdivia, and Coby Hatcher all went 2/3 with an RBI. Waves starter Joshue Sayre got the win, allowing no runs on 1 hit and striking out 3. 

July 3rd:

Vista, CA - Waves put up their third 12 run performance in a row in a 7-inning run rule and shutout of the West Coast Bulldogs. 

The Waves offense stays scorching hot, scoring 12 runs in three straight games, all on the road. Tyler Wick and Kayden Anderson each had 3 hits and Kerim Orucevic recorded 4 hits on the night. The Waves had a staggering 15 hits total throughout the 7-inning game. 

Five Waves pitchers combined for the shutout. The staff recorded 7 Ks and allowed only 3 hits and 3 walks. Chapman Weber tossed 2 spotless innings for the win.

 

The Waves will be off for the 4th of July and back in action on Monday for a home double header against the West Coast Bulldogs. 

July 2nd:

Pasadena, CA - Waves collect another CCL victory with another 12 run offensive outburst. 

The Waves scored 12 runs for the second night in a row, this time beating a good Arroyo Seco Saints team on the road in Pasadena. It was a total offensive performance from the Waves, with 7 different players recording a hit. Having the most impact, however, was Derrick Kraus. Kraus went 3/4 with 3 RBIs.

Waves starter Blake Killenger got the win, going 3 IP and allowing no runs on 3 hits, 2 walks, and 1 K. Five Waves relievers combined for the final six innings, allowing 6 runs on 9 hits.

July 1st:

San Diego, CA - Waves dismantle the Bombers 12-1 in a 7 inning run rule.

The Waves offense was hot all night, scoring at least 2 runs in 5 of the 7 innings played. Anthony Tompkins and Kayden Anderson each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs, and Coby Hatcher drove in 3. 

Waves starter Fisher Migita had one of the best outings of the summer thus far. The righty earned the win with a 6 inning no-hit effort, walking 2 and striking out 3. Chance Crawford came in relief for the final inning allowing 1 hit and 1 unearned run. 

The Waves will travel to Pasadena tomorrow for a CCL matchup against the Arroyo Seco Saints. First pitch will be at 5:35 pm. 

June 30th:

Irvine, CA - Waves lose another close one to the OC Riptide by a score of 2-3.

Both teams recorded 6 hits on the night, but the Waves committed 3 errors leading to 2 unearned runs, which proved to be the difference in the game.

Waves starter Brandon Bollerer went 5 IP allowing 2 unearned runs on 3 hits, 2 BBs, and 6 Ks. Kasey Regala also pitched 3 strong innings allowing only 1 run on 3 hits. 

Theo Kim and David Vergel De Dios each had an RBI in the 5th inning, but that was all the scoring the Waves offense could put together. Kayden Anderson and Tyler Wick both had 2 hits for the Waves.

June 29th:

Escondido, CA - Waves split the double header at home against the San Diego Stars.

The Waves dropped game 1 of the double header by a score of 6-9. The Waves were up 6-0 going into the 7th inning, then the Stars put up a huge 9 run inning to take the lead. 

Tyler Wick led the Waves offense going 2/3 with an RBI. Hudson Castillo and Matthew Garrison combined for 4 IP, 0 runs, 2 hits, and 7 Ks. 

The Waves bounced back in game 2, taking a 10-8 victory. Both teams had double digit hits but the Waves outlasted the Stars thanks to a team-effort that saw four Waves record 2 hits.

 

Jay Peters got the win, going 3 IP and allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. 

The Waves will be back in action tomorrow at 7 pm in Irvine for a CCL matchup against the OC Riptide. 

 

June 27th:

​Santa Barbara, CA - Waves collect a huge 8-6 win on the road, upsetting the Santa Barbara Foresters.

The Foresters, who were ranked first in the CCL South coming into Friday, are taken down by a strong Waves performance. Starter Brandon Bollerer went 3 strong innings, allowing 1 ER on 2 hits and 2 BBs. Reliever Chapman Weber earned the win, allowing no hits, no runs, and striking out 3 in 2 IP. 

The Waves offense put together a consistent team effort to manufacture 8 runs on 8 hits. Sam Tucci (3/4) and Derrick Kraus (2/3) were a strong duo at the bottom of the Waves lineup. 

The Waves will be back on the road for more CCL action on Sunday in Compton against the MLB Urban Academy. First pitch at 1:05 pm. 

June 26th:

​Ventura, CA - Waves fall 6-7 in a tight contest with the Conejo Oaks.

Although the Waves out-hit the Oaks 10-9, the defense committed 3 errors to the Oaks' none which contributed to the one run loss. Owen Baxter and Kerim Orucevic both stayed hot for the Waves' offense, collecting 3 hits each. 

Waves pitching K'd 10 and walked 5, and of the Oaks' 7 runs, only 3 of them were earned. Waves starter Matthew Garrison allowed no earned runs over 3 innings, giving up 3 hits, 3 walks, and striking out 5. 

June 24th:

Escondido, CA - Waves shutout the San Diego​

Stars, taking an impressive 8-0 victory. 

Waves starter Jay Peters earned the win, going 3

IP and allowing no runs on 1 hit. Michael Karlin, 

Mike DeFrancesca, Fisher Migita, and Rusty Huber

came out of the bullpen and all put up scoreless 

frames for the Waves shutout. 

The Waves offense put together consistent ABs and strung together hits with runners in scoring position. John Uchytil, Michael Hollis (above), and Brady Luyben each had 2 RBIs. The Waves defense was flawless, committing no errors and turning 1 double play. 

The Waves hit the road tomorrow to play the Conejo Oaks at Ventura College. First pitch at 4 pm. 

June 23rd:

Irvine, CA - Waves are shutout by the OC Riptide, falling 5-0. 

Waves starter Matthew Viveros was excellent, allowing 2 hits and 0 runs while K'ing 4 in his 2 innings of work. The Riptide got on the board with 3 runs in the fourth and added 2 more late in the eighth. 

The Waves offense was never able to get much going at the plate, scattering only 5 hits the whole game. The Waves did collect 7 walks on the day, but were unable to drive any baserunners in. 

June 22nd:

Escondido, CA - Waves take both games of the double header against the San Diego Hustle. Game 1: 10-0. Game 2: 15-5. 

The Waves put up impressive offensive performances and great pitching in both games of the double header on Monday. Theo Kim and John Uchytil both homered for the Waves, and Anthony Tompkins went 2/3 with 3 RBIs. 

Waves starter Boston Latter earned the Game 1 win and Nolan Moore collected the save.

In Game 2 the Waves' bats stayed hot, scoring 15 runs on 14 hits in just 7 innings. Caleb Wagner and Ethan Munoz each had 3 RBIs for the Waves and Evan Schick went 3/4 to lead the team in hits. 

Reliever Justin Allen earned the win with 2 IP giving up 3 hits and 1 run. Braden Sweet was also excellent out of the bullpen, striking out 3 and allowing no base runners over 2 IP.

June 20th:

Vista, CA - Waves win another conference game, taking down

the West Coast Bulldogs 9-1.

​Kerim Orucevic was the impact player of the game for the

Waves, going 3/4 with a HR and 2 RBIs. Kayden Anderson

and Owen Baxter also recorded 2 hits each in an impressive

offensive showing from the Waves.

 

Starting pitcher Fisher Migita earned the win for the Waves,

allowing 3 hits and 1 run in three innings of work. Sean Cannon, Michael Karlin, and Jay Peters combined for six scoreless innings out of the bullpen. 

The Waves will be back in action on Monday in a double header against the San Diego Hustle. First pitch of game 1 at 3:30 and first pitch of game 2 at 6:00 at Escondido High School. 

June 19th:

Escondido, CA - Waves take down the San Diego Hustle by a

score of 3-2 in a tight pitching duel. 

The Hustle took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning off of

Waves starter Chapman Weber. Weber threw 2 IP allowing just

the 1 run on 1 hit and 3 walks.

The Waves scored 1 run in each the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings

to go up 3-1. The Hustle added another in the 8th but were 

unable to tie the game. 

Waves reliever Mike DeFrancesca earned the win with a solid

four innings in relief, allowing no runs on just 1 hit. Sam Tucci recorded the save. Waves pitching K'd 8 and walked 3.

Center fielder Jacob May went 2/3 out of the leadoff spot. The Waves tallied 9 hits total. 

The Waves will be back in action tomorrow against the Bulldogs. First pitch at 1 pm at Vista High School.

June 15th:

Fairbanks, AK - Waves drop the final game of the series

against the Alaska Goldpanners to split 3-3 for the second

straight year. 

 

Goldpanner bats were hot the entire game, scoring 10 runs on 

13 hits. Goldpanner pitching was sufficient to earn the win, 

limiting the Waves to 5 runs on 5 hits. 

 

Kayden Anderson and Kerim Orucevic held up the Waves offense with 2 RBIs each. Waves pitcher Brandon Bollerer was efficient out of the bullpen, allowing just 1 run in 3 innings of relief.

Overall, the Waves played a hard-fought series in a difficult Goldpanners home field environment. San Diego will be back in action against the CCL Santa Barbara Foresters on June 17th in Santa Barbara. 

​June 14th:

​Fairbanks, AK - Waves take the series lead thanks to a

thrilling late game comeback! 

The penultimate game of the 2026 Alaska roadtrip saw both​

teams put up 11 hits in an offensive showdown. 

Waves starter Chance Crawford allowed 4 earned runs on

8 hits throughout the first 3.2 innings. Waves pitcher Michael

Karlin came in relief and earned the win, tossing 4.1 innings allowing 1 run, 1 hit, and striking out 3. Fisher Migita got the one inning save. 

The San Diego offense strung together clutch at bats throughout the entire game. Down 4-7 with 6 outs left, the Waves would score twice in the 8th to make it a one run game, then have a huge four run 9th to make it a 10-7 lead. 

 

Evan Schick, on his 21st birthday, was the player of the game for the Waves. He put up an impressive 4 RBIs on 3 hits and 1 walk, and played gold glove defense for the Waves at third base. Kerim Orucevic (pictured above) also had a great game with 2 hits and 3 stolen bases. 

San Diego will go for a huge series win tomorrow against the Goldpanners. First pitch will be 6:35 local time at Growden Park. 

June 13th: 

​Fairbanks, AK - Waves take care of the Goldpanners 9-1

in game three, evening the series at 2-2. 

Waves starter Sergio Garcia earned the win after three​

excellent innings where he allowed 0 runs on only 1 hit,

0 walks, and 7 strike outs. 

​The Waves bullpen tossed 6 strong innings, allowing just 1

run on 3 hits and 8 strikeouts. 

The Waves took a 2 run lead in the fourth inning on a costly

Goldpanners error. San Diego would add on 2 runs in the 

seventh and 4 in the ninth, powered by Caleb Wagner with 2 hits and 1 RBI and Michael Hollis with 1 hit, 1 walk, and 2 runs scored. 

The Waves will look to take the series lead in a Sunday matinee game, starting at 2 pm local time at Growden Park. 

June 12th: 

​Fairbanks, AK - Waves lose game three against the

Goldpanners 9-0.

The Goldpanners got out to a fast lead with a four run

first inning, adding four more in the fourth inning and one in

the eighth. 

The Waves offense was shut down by Goldpanner pitching

the whole game, not scoring a single run on only four

scattered hits. 

The Waves bullpen did a good job of minimizing the damage-

pitchers Justin Allen and Fisher Migita combined for five IP

and only two runs, but the Waves' bats couldn't get them 

back in the game.

The Waves will look to even the series tomorrow. First pitch

will be at 7:00 local time at Growden Park. 

June 11th: 

​Fairbanks, AK - Waves take game two against the Alaska

Goldpanners 6-4. 

Waves starter Brandon Bollerer collected the win after a 

five inning effort in which he allowed two runs, both un-

earned, striking out four, walking two, and allowing just four

hits. 

The Waves offense was powered by Kayden Anderson 

(pictured right), who went 3-5 with a solo home run and 

two RBI's total. Jacob May, Anthony Tompkins, and Kerim

Orucevic also picked up one RBI each. 

The Waves bullpen held the lead, allowing just two

earned runs over the final four innings of work. The one

out save was collected by Louis Cohen to even the series 

at 1-1.

The Waves will look to take a 2-1 series lead tomorrow 

against the Goldpanners. First pitch will be at 7:00 local

time at Growden Park.

 

June 10th: 

Fairbanks, AK - Waves drop the first of a six-game

Alaska series against the Alaska Goldpanners by a

score of 11-2. 

The Goldpanners got on the board first with a three run

triple in the second inning off of starter Kasey Regala

(pictured right). The righty went two and two-thirds

innings, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out

our and walking

three.

The Waves struck back with two runs of their own in the

fourth inning, driven in by Caleb Wagner and Michael

Hollis. Owen Baxter, Andreas Nilsen, Caleb Wagner, Michael Hollis, Jacob May, and John Uchytil each collected one hit for the Waves throughout the game.

 

The Goldpanners offense would go on to put the game out of reach with a five run sixth inning followed by a three run seventh. 

The Waves will look to even the series tomorrow against the Goldpanners. First pitch will be at 6:35 local time at Growden Park.

May 31st:

2025 Season:

September 15th:

Cal State Northridge Junior Matthew “Chewy” Thomas was named MVP the Waves this summer. He led the team in GP, AB’s, 12-2B’s, 8-HR’s and 72-Total Bases. He finished the year with a .336 BA, .438 OBA, and .673 SLG. He also played great OF defense all summer. Congratulations Chewy and good luck this college season!

September 10th:

Cal State Monterey Bay Junior Holden Garcia has been named Pitcher of the Year for the Waves. He went 3-0 with 26 IP, 21 K’s, 17 H, 1.04 ERA, and a 1.04 WHIP. Congratulations Holden and good luck this season at Monterey!!

September 2nd:

Junior C Cole Snidow and Saddleback Sophomore INF Jacob Hudson have been named Waves Co-Defensive Players of the Year for the Waves. Congratulations to you both on a great summer and good luck this upcoming season!!

San Diego Waves Summer Collegiate Team

San Diego Waves Summer Collegiate team plays from June through August.  With a rich history of success since their debut in 1995. The Waves are a member of the Western Baseball Association and the National Baseball Congress. Since 2000 the Waves have won eight League titles and have finished in the top 10 at the NBC World Series seven times including six times in the last nine years.
